Week 6 : Silhouette Project

Materials needed:
Choose the supplies that you have at home. -paper (copy paper, line paper, construction paper, or newspaper) -water soluble/washable markers (you could also use paint if you have some) -paint brush or Q-tip (not required) -pencil -cup/bowl for water (not required) -paint (not required) -scissors -white crayon -glue stick or liquid glue (not required) -light source (lamp, flashlight, or the outdoor sun) -permanent marker (not required) |
Directions: (This project can be done individually or with your family. You don't have to do all of the silhouette examples. You choose which one you'd like to do.)
Step 1: Watch the video link above on Ms. Rowland.
Step 2: You choose which silhouette technique works best for you.
Step 3: Set up your light source (lamp, flashlight, or outdoor sunlight).
Step 4: Then trace the object or person's shadow onto paper.
Step 5: Once you're done tracing the contour line of the shadow, you can decorate it (use any coloring material of your choice).

Silhouette Project
(If you don't have the materials for doing the week 6 video lesson, you can do this project instead.)
You can create this using paper and any drawing materials or you can use any digital drawing program or app of your choice. For the project, create a shape. Make your shape a solid color and then create a colorful design in the background. Or do the opposite, make your shape full of designs and make the background a solid color. Use contrast to get your shape to stand out either with light & dark colors or warm & cool colors. Be creative with it and have fun!
